26 Mar The Armed Forces Covenant
Sharples Group has demonstrated its support for the Armed Forces Community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Armed Forces Covenant means that we are a forces friendly employer as well as supporting our team members as reservists and veterans. It means that we pledge, demonstrate and advocate support to defence and the armed forces community. And that we recognise the wide range of unique skills and experiences that reservists and veterans bring to our business.
As an armed forces-friendly business we are open to employing reservists, veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick) and military spouse or partners.
We have pledged:
- To promote the fact we are an armed forces-friendly organisation
- To support the employment of veterans and service leavers
- To offer flexibility in leave for service spouses and partner before, during and after deployment
- To support reservist employees, allowing leave for training and deployment.

Now that Sharples Group has signed the Covenant, we are eligible to aim for the MoD’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze award. ERS encourages employers to support Defence and inspire others to do the same.
In the spirit of the Covenant and to demonstrate our support in a practical way we have supplied a free copier to the Armed Services Community Support Hub drop-in centre in Warrington and we look forward to getting involved in future activities to support members of the ex-forces community.
