Sharples MD Mark Brocklehurst would like to say a massive thank you to Shaun Liptrot and all the staff at Rivington Bikes for their amazing help in his preparations for the recent Iron Man UK Championships.
The Iron Man UK is one of the toughest in the world, combining a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and full 26 mile marathon through most of Lancashire. Mark is no stranger to the event, having run last year’s in 14 hours and 13 minutes, and thanks to the guys at Rivington Bikes he was only too happy to compete again in 2013!
Owner Shaun was able to help Mark and fellow competitor Anthony Ryder select the correct frames, wheels and gear ratios to help them with the cycle section of the course, and his efforts were not in vain as the guys managed to post extremely impressive times.
Mark commented, “having a world class endurance triathlon on our doorstep is too good an opportunity to miss out….and wearing the Rivington Bikes kit drew enormous encouragement from the crowds.”
The two guys posted really impressive finishing times, with Anthony making it round on his debut in 12 hours and 30 minutes, whilst Mark came 725th out of 1833 starters and managed to shave a full hour off his time, finishing in 13 hours and 15 minutes.
