17 Oct Mark Brocklehurst in Tour de Youth Zone Challenge!
Sharples Group MD Mark Brocklehurst is set to cycle over 450 miles to raise funds for the OnSide Warrington Youth Club/Zone.
Sharples Group MD Mark Brocklehurst is set to undertake a fund-raising cycle ride. Mark is no stranger to a charity challenge, having successfully undertaken many endeavours in the past. But this cause is particularly close to his heart as Mark has been Chair of the OnSide Warrington Youth Club since 2017.
And this time he won’t be travelling alone. Mark will be accompanied by Nick Hopkinson a long-time supporter of the Club and Neil Tattersall, of local company Britplas and a founder patron of the Club.
The intrepid trio will be braving the saddle from Monday 21 October to make the 450+ mile ‘Tour de Youth Zones’ ride.
The team will set off from the most northerly OnSide Youth Zone in Carlisle. Making pitstops at every youth zone, they will end at the Legacy Youth Zone in Croydon in just 5 days, on 25 October.
Others representing their own zone will also join various legs of the ride, each raising their own funds for their local Youth Zone.

Mark said: ‘Doing this by bike, and raising money for each Zone, makes this a perfect use of my time and I am excited to be doing the challenge with so many like-minded people. It’s a fantastic way to really understand the growing network of Youth Zones across the country and forge relationships along the way. But undoubtedly the highlight for me will be days two and three when we cover the nine north west Youth Zones, including a stop at the site of the new Warrington Youth Zone on Dallam Lane.’
Warrington Youth Club was established in 1952 and was formerly known as the Warrington Boys Club. In 2020, with the help of contributions such as this, Warrington Youth Club will become Warrington Youth Zone. Open 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year and offering over 20 activities a night, the state-of-the-art facility will be able to welcome an additional 3,000 members a year.
