Warrington based Sharples Group is proud to be a Corporate Patron of the largest youth centre in the UK, Bolton Lads and Girls Club, for the third consecutive year.
Mark Brocklehurst, Sharples Group Director and Director of Sport at the Bolton Lads and Girls Club, said; “It’s great to support a club of this kind and I’m pleased to be able to contribute personally in the sport area. Without the support of businesses like ours these projects would not keep going, it is good to see, first hand, what our support does.”
The Club was founded in 1889 by a group of local businessmen who felt the need to support young lads who worked in some of the town’s mills. A registered charity, the club has gone from strength to strength over the years thanks to the support of its sponsors, patrons and volunteers. The club is now supported by a team of around 50 staff and an army of over 400 volunteers. Open seven days a week, 52 weeks a year the club is recognised for being innovative and fun and definitely one of the leading youth centres in the country.
Sport and recreation are the backbone of Bolton Lads and Girls Club. Sport links all sections of the Club together and engages with thousands of young people every year. The model used for the successful Bolton Club is now being copied to create Lads and Girls Clubs throughout the UK.
